The City of Prince Albert is currently accepting applications for the casual position of Lifeguard in the Parks, Recreation and Culture Department.
This position will be responsible for monitoring public activities in and around swimming pools and ensuring adherence to rules, procedures and safety regulations. Candidates qualified as Lifesaving Instructor and/or Lifesaving SWIM Instructor will instruct and conduct swimming lessons as well .
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Key Lifeguarding Duties
- Responsible for proper safety procedures, and in cases of emergency, performs first aid,
water rescues and other lifeguarding skills and techniques.
- Supervises the activities of patrons using the facility in accordance with established
policies and procedures.
- Attends to all inquiries through personal, telephone, and written communication.
- Carries out responsible lifeguarding duties to ensure a safe and healthy atmosphere
conducive to aquatic fun and education while promoting a leisure atmosphere.
- Enforces swimming pool rules and regulations as outlined by the City of Prince Albert and
the Saskatchewan Public Health Act.
- Follows City of Prince Albert Aquatic Manual and related Safe Work Practices.
2. Key Janitorial Duties
- Responsible for assigned facility opening and closing procedures.
- Participates in cleaning and disinfection duties.
Required Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent; or Age 16 if a continuing full-time student
- Possession of the following current awards:
- National Lifeguard Pool
- Standard First Aid with CPR-HCP or BLS
- WHMIS
