Waterworks Operator

The Town of Wynyard is a vibrant community seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Waterworks Operator.

The successful applicant should be a self-motivated individual who will be responsible for assisting in the effective management, operation, and maintenance of a Trident II Water Treatment Plant Class II, and Water Distribution System Class II, Wastewater Collection System Class II, and Wastewater Treatment System Class I.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, daily water sampling and testing, recording sample results meter readings and chemical volumes, mixing and dosing treatment chemicals, monitoring and maintaining wells and well sites, repairing or replacing water and wastewater infrastructure, sewer main jetting, gate valve exercising, meter reading, meter repair and replacement, and any other duties as instructed by the Town Superintendent.

Qualifications: A Grade 12 High School Diploma or GED is required. The candidate will possess related practical experience and strong background and knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure. Preference will be given to candidates who hold the above mentioned Water and Wastewater Certifications and have mechanical and computer aptitude. A Class 5 drivers licence is required.

The position requires some shift work, call-back and standby including nights and weekends. The successful candidate must be able to work without supervision.
