Job Summary
The Special Education Assistant will be working under the supervision of the Resource teacher and the Principal of Peepeekisis Pesakastew School.  This position will be divided between the duties of a special care assistant and a regular educational assistant.  Part of your time will be spent providing personal care for a multiply handicapped student who has basic care needs such as feeding and toileting.  The successful candidate will be expected to change the students pullups and ensure a state of dryness throughout the day.  Because this student attends our school bi-weekly, the other times will see you assigned to a special needs student within our classrooms and will be responsible for:
Duties & Responsibilities:
    Providing support to students with Special Needs within the classroom and/or pullout situations;
    Providing support to classroom teachers when needed;
    Working with the Resource teachers to provide support to students according to the students individual Education Plan;
    Scheduled Supervision of students at recess and during noon lunch;
    Supervision of students on school outings;
    Personal care for handicapped student (feeding & Toileting);
    Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
    Grade 12 and /or Equivalent
    Early Childhood Certificate is preferred but not necessary
    Physically fit, able to do some heavy lifting
    CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Check
    Ability to work with minimal supervision
    Ability to work as part of the team
    First Aid and CPR
