Description

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking to fill our Mechanic I position in the Workshop Branch of the Department of Operations.  Reporting to the Fleet Services Supervisor, the Mechanic I is responsible for performing various duties relating to the mechanical repairs and maintenance of City-owned equipment.  Some duties include:

- Perform various duties relating to the general maintenance, diagnosis and repair of City owned equipment
- Perform engine tune-ups, replacement of worn parts, set to proper adjustment and replace as required
- Safely use oxy acetylene torch
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems on motor vehicles
- Undertake and record the servicing of units in accordance with manufacturers recommendations or workshop policy
- follow safe and proper working procedures and practices
- Available after hours on-call for emergency repairs
- Attend courses to ensure all qualifications are kept current
- Supply own toolbox with basic hand tools
- Perform related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Red Seal/Interprovincial Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician certification or Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certification
- Have or obtain from SGI providing authorization to conduct vehicle safety inspections for heavy truck, trailer and/or bus
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and safety policies established by the City
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Class 2 drivers license with air brake endorsement
