The Railcar Mechanical Manager, will report directly to the Director of Operations and oversee the Railcar team. This role is crucial in defining and prioritizing shop project objectives, identifying critical success factors, and setting deliverables for the team. The Manager is responsible for motivating the team, instilling a sense of urgency to meet project deadlines, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Key areas of focus include enhancing shop production capabilities, maintaining high-quality standards, ensuring safety, and managing costs effectively.
Requirements:
3+ years experience in project leadership within a manufacturing /repair environment
Highly organized and adaptable to change
Able to read blueprints and schematic drawings
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and large projects with minimal direction
Strong written and oral communication skills
Self-starter, energizing, results-orientated, and ability to multi-task
Demonstrated problem solving skills and results orientation
Preferred:
Bachelors degree with mechanical/chemical engineering discipline or relative railcar experience may be accepted
Demonstrated execution of project goals while satisfying safety, quality, performance, schedule, and budget
Having experience in full railcar repair cycle.
Demonstrated LEAN skills
Physical Demands:
Work in conditions with exposure to weather, dust, fumes, and noise; climb, stoop, bend, work in confined spaces.
Adapt to railcar heights and use fall arrest equipment.
