Driver Trainer

SOUTHLAND Transportation is currently seeking a Driver Trainer for ourHumboldt location.The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and possess superior leadership skills in the training and development of our professional drivers. A high attention to detail, exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills, and a focus on the continuous improvement of safe driving skills and customer service are key to success in this role.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Training new drivers in the classroom and on the road
Getting new drivers ready for licensing
Incident investigations, file management, and reporting
WCB administration
Assist with the development of the companys safety culture and program
Monitor operations to ensure staff comply with safety rules, policies, procedures, and government regulations
Plan and present on various topics at staff safety meetings
Familiarize prospective employees with SOUTHLANDpolicies
CRC (Collision Review Committee) road reviews and retraining
Maintain precise and up-to-date paperwork and time keeping
Assisting with other roles based on the needs of the company

Knowledge & Skills Required

Class 5 licensewith S endorsement (or willing to get)
Excellent driving skills and habits
Clean drivers abstract
Previous experience in school bus operation
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Public speaking and presentation skills
Occupational Health and Safety Certificate preferred
Post-secondary education and/or training in leadership or management considered an asset
Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) busing related safety legislation

Working Conditions

The office is locatedin Humboldt. Typical working hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Full-time Trainers may be required to cover a run if needed.
