Position & Scope

The Yard Supervisor is the primary point of contact for day-to-day activities at the Protex facility.  Supervision of recycling technicians, daily inventory control, monitoring site safety, and dealing with customers dropping materials off on site are some the primary responsibilities.  With a proven track record of leadership and mentorship, the incumbent will play an integral role in the daily activity in the facility.

Key Accountabilities

Under general supervision and as part of a team, perform the following:

- Organize workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks
- Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching
- Receive complaints / concerns and resolve problems
- Pass on information from upper management to employees and vice versa
- Participate in performance reviews
- Train and mentor new employees
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Undertake disciplinary actions if the need arises
- Host morning tool box meetings for yard staff
- Daily Inventory reports
- Assist customers with scrap metal and other inbound materials
- Assist yard operator with various projects
- Complete pre job hazard assessments and any other safety documentation needed
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

- Must be physically fit
- Must have steel toed safety boots
- Safety conscious
- Mechanical aptitude/maintenance experience an asset
- Motivated and productive
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English
- Holds Class 5 SK Driver's License (Class 1A or 3A preferred)

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Schedule: 8 hour shift
