The Provincial Archives is seeking a term Special Media Technician to work within the Records Processing & Preservation Services program. Under the supervision of the Manager and the Special Media Archivist, the successful applicant will assist in the processing, maintenance, access to, digitization, and preservation of special media collections housed at the Provincial Archives and will assist in the development and implementation of processes and procedures for the ingest of born-digital and digitized materials into the digital content management system.

The ideal candidate will:

- Have knowledge and experience of archival arrangement, description, and conservation procedures, particularly related to special media and digital records;
- Have expertise with audio/visual equipment (both analogue and digital), along with related software and associated techniques;
- Be a positive and energetic team player;
- Be especially conscious of accuracy in detail, highly organized, and self-motivated;
- Be flexible, patient, and client-service oriented;
- Be receptive to learning new skills and acquiring new knowledge; receptive to constructive feedback;
- Be able to lift and carry, on a regular basis, boxes weighing up to 10 kgs, and, on an infrequent basis, boxes weighing up to 30kgs; and
- Be willing to be trained on a lift machine.

Note:  Candidate must have a valid drivers licence.

This position requires a combination of archival knowledge and technical expertise pertaining to the archival conservation and preservation of both analogue and digital media.

Knowledge is typically obtained through a degree in History, or related social science, supplemented by specialized technical training in archives OR and an equivalent combination of education and experience.
