Description

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) is a treasury board crown responsible for emergency communications including Sask911 and SaskAlert, wildfire management, emergency management and fire safety. This centralized agency ensures a single point of contact for communities, greater co-ordination of provincial resources and contributes to safer communities in our province.

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is seeking a results-oriented, dynamic and highly motivated professional for the position of Financial Analyst.

The candidate of choice will have outstanding organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. You will also have a strong understanding of budgeting and forecasting principles and best practices, financial accounting, and knowledge of revolving and special purpose funds. The ability to think analytically and creatively to support the agencys vision and to connect with the public service at all levels is essential.  

You will be responsible for providing financial services to the various branches within the Agency through financial analysis and advisory services within the budget and fiscal planning section. Duties will include gathering budgeting information, preparing monthly and quarterly expenditure and revenue forecasts, tracking FTEs, calculating accruals, and responding to various inquiries from the branches. You will also have a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with a team. Financial experience within the public sector environment would be an asset.

The skills and knowledge for this position would typically be acquired through the completion of a business administration degree major in accounting. An accounting designation or in the process of obtaining one would be an asset.
