Description

The Ministry of Trade and Export Development is seeking a dynamic, high performing and strong relationship builder to join its team as Deputy Director in the Investment Attraction Branch, bringing their business and/or economic development acumen to the team. In this challenging and rewarding position, we are looking for a strategic and flexible professional who is committed to delivering results for Saskatchewan while fostering an innovative, collaborative and one-team approach.

Our candidate of choice must be a resilient leader who is able to:

- Demonstrate knowledge of investment attraction principles and practices and an understanding of global trade issues and trends with respect to foreign direct investment;
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Saskatchewan economy and the fiscal, regulatory and policy issues affecting business in the province;
- Possess a strong grasp of the current state and opportunities and challenges related to economic development in Saskatchewan;
- Listen, understand, partner and/or influence others in order to reach mutually acceptable solutions and identify and advance economic development opportunities; and
- Demonstrate a proven track record of communicating to senior leaders, peers, and local and international communities.

Typically, the knowledge and competencies for the position would have been acquired through an educational background in Business Administration, Commerce, or Economics, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in economic development and/or investment.

The successful candidate will be willing and able to travel. The position will require travel within Saskatchewan, Canada and potentially international.
