Description

The work you will be involved in:
Working with community associations and supporting goals that are
aligned with community identified needs. Coordinate relevant training programs for program staff and community volunteers. Develops and maintain relations with community-based social serving
organizations. Develops recreational and cultural programs, with the consideration of equity, diversity, inclusion, and community wellbeing. Provides advice, direction, and assistance to community associations and organization with planning, delivering, and evaluating programs and services aimed at improving neighbourhood safety and community wellbeing.

Typically to be successful in this role, a person will have:
University degree in public administration, social work, Indigenous studies, or social sciences, Education (specifically Indigenous focused programs). Six years' experience in the field of community development, including working with Indigenous peoples, new Canadians, and marginalized populations. Comprehensive understanding of the history, traditions, diverse knowledge, experiences, languages, cultures, and land interests of Indigenous peoples in Saskatoon.
Political acumen with the ability to understand and effectively navigate political environments, systems, and dynamics.
Ability to handle sensitive and complex social situations with sensitivity and empathy.
