Description

The Ministry of Agriculture has an exciting and challenging opportunity for an enthusiastic, innovative and accomplished individual who is looking to hone their skills and knowledge as a Provincial Livestock Development Specialist.  In this role you will provide project management and pathfinding support for livestock developers and municipalities to ensure that development processes and needs.

This is an opportunity to expand your networks within government, municipalities and the livestock industry; and to use your interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills to promote livestock development as a component of the Provinces Plan for Growth.

You will bring:

- knowledge of the agriculture industry (provincial, national and global), with a focus on the livestock sector in Saskatchewan;
- knowledge of the municipal planning framework and processes, The Planning and Development Act, 2007 and The Agricultural Operations Act;
- strong written and verbal communication skills;
- interpersonal skills and industry networking experience is essential;
- strong leadership and facilitation skills;
- enthusiasm and confidence to effectively interact with industry, government colleagues, planners and scientists;
- a proactive and consistent approach to effectively anticipating and addressing issues; and
- a collaborative approach in developing effective relationships both internal and external to the Ministry.

Typically, the knowledge and experience required for this position would be in planning and/or agriculture. Such knowledge would typically be attained through a Bachelors degree in Planning or Agriculture, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Registration as a Professional Planner and member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and/or Saskatchewan Professional Planners Institute would be an asset.
