Description

Heres what you will do as a FIRST Counsellor:
Provide non-traditional counselling and support to individuals and families at risk or affected by violence and abuse, both in office and in a community setting.
Act as an advocate for clients personal, physical and emotional safety.
Provide support groups, workshops and presentations to youth, adults and families.
Provide individual/family short and long-term counselling.
Community outreach and education related to violence.
Provide clients with information on community resources and make referrals to other resources when necessary.

Heres what we are looking for in the ideal candidate:
Must have a minimum of a bachelors degree in social work (or human services field); equivalent relevant work, experience and knowledge may be considered.
Knowledge of counselling, crisis intervention and group facilitation.
Ability to provide counselling in crisis intervention and group work
Knowledge of counselling theories, understanding of client-centered, and strength-based services.
Effective decision-making skills.
Strong motivation and ability to work independently.
Computer literacy  must be able to use Microsoft Office programs and be capable of learning new computer programs.
Reliable and organized.
Must be flexible  Position will require some evening and weekend availability.
Must have a valid Saskatchewan drivers license and reliable vehicle.
