Description

Group Leaders assist the Program Supervisor to create a welcoming, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment where children aged 6-12 receive quality child care and programming based on explorative, active and creative play, to stimulate their ability to grow socially, physically, intellectually and emotionally. The After School Program will provide a safe and nurturing space for children to make friends, develop respect for themselves and peers, and to grow socially, cognitively, creatively, and physically.
Group Leaders help plan and implement weekly programming including snacks and activities for groups of up to 15 children. The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Weyburn After School Program is located at the Credit Union Spark Centre.
The Group Leaders will work within the guidelines, policies and mission of the Agency and will be accountable for and responsible for specific projects as assigned.
They will practice from the Development Relationship Framework to ensure that interactions with youth include; expressing care, challenging growth, providing support, sharing power and expanding possibilities.

YOU WILL BRING
    Experience working with children aged 6-12 years
    First Aid/CPR certification
    Principles of Healthy Child Development High 5 certification is an asset
    Must have the desire and ability to work with up to 15 children at a time in an indoor and outdoor setting
    Proven leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills
    Strong problem-solving skills
    Experience working with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds
    Ability to support the needs of the team with empathy
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    Ability to adapt to changing environments
    Must be available Monday to Friday 2:30pm to 6:30pm
