Description

We are looking for an engaged and enthusiastic Aboriginal Headstart Support Worker to foster and facilitate the intellectual and social development of our children.  This will include planning, implementing, and assessing lessons throughout the year along with teaching children patience and creativity. The Aboriginal Headstart Support Worker duties include designing a teaching plan and using activities, play and instructional methods to motivate children. The Aboriginal Headstart Support Worker is a member of the Early Learning Childcare Center team and will report to the Early Learning Childcare Coordinator.  

Roles & Responsibilities
    Encourage and support the well-being of children by working with the children, their families, community and Elders.
    Support programs and activities that contribute to the care and development of children and their parents;
    Plan, organize and lead daily activities;
    Liaison with all partners in the community
    Work as a team member to create a comfortable and positive atmosphere in the centre

    Design and follow a complete weekly plan;
    Teach personal, social, emotional skills and learning through play;
    Maintain strict confidentiality at all times;
    Organize learning material and resources;
    Use a variety of activities and instructional methods (songs, stories, media, structured games, art, outdoor activities etc.) to motivate and stimulate childrens abilities;
    Identify emerging trends and challenges affecting Muskeg Lake Cree Nations children and families and ensure all programming is responsive;
    Ensure all services meet best practice and legal requirements for service delivery including a high standard for all documentation;
    Maintain an open line of communication with parents and provide appropriate information;
    Ensure effective program planning and reporting;
    Monitor childrens interactions and nurture cooperation and sharing;
    Cooperate with all staff;
