Description

kihiw waciston School on Muskeg Lake Cree Nation is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Educational Assistant to support the holistic development and learning needs of students within our unique cultural context. The successful candidate will play a vital role in creating an inclusive and nurturing environment that promotes academic growth, emotional well-being, and cultural identity.

Responsibilities:
Student Support: Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with diverse learning needs, fostering their academic progress and participation in classroom activities.

Cultural Integration: Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate Indigenous knowledge, language, and traditions into daily lessons, enhancing students' connection to their cultural heritage.

Inclusive Environment: Foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere where students of all abilities feel valued, respected, and empowered to contribute to the learning community.

Behavioral Guidance: Implement positive behavior support strategies, utilizing Indigenous values and teachings, to encourage respectful interactions, self-regulation, and emotional well-being among students.

Assistive Technology: Familiarize yourself with and provide assistance in the use of assistive technologies that support students with specific learning challenges.

Physical Assistance: Offer physical support and guidance to students with mobility challenges, ensuring their safe participation in classroom and school activities.

Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with teachers, parents, and other team members to ensure coordinated support for each student's needs.

Resource Preparation: Assist in preparing teaching materials, visual aids, and resources to enhance student engagement and comprehension.

Data Collection: Collect and record student progress data under the guidance of teachers, contributing to the development of individualized education plans.
