Description

To provide information, prevention, promotion, assessment and treatment services to children, youth, families, groups and agencies of the Montreal Lake Cree Nation 106A (Camp Hope)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Apply knowledge of substance abuse for an effective and compassionate role in treatment, prevention and health promotion
    Accurately assess for addictions, disorders and/or addiction related issues and develop appropriate treatment, recovery and aftercare plans
    Conduct referrals to other professionals to assess client physical and/or mental needs as required
    Review client background information, interview clients to obtain case history and prepare intake reports
    Assist clients to sort out options and develop plans of action while providing necessary support and assistance
    Refer clients to other services or assist clients in locating and utilizing community resources including legal, medical, financial assistance, housing, employment, transportation, daycare and other services
    Participate in the selection and admission of clients to appropriate programs
    Organize and implement the delivery of public education, prevention and health promotion workshops within the community

    Certificate or Diploma in addictions services sanctioned by either the Addictions Professionals Association of Saskatchewan (APASK) or the Canadian Addictions Counsellor Certification Federation (CACCF)
    A strong knowledge of the Developmental Model of Recovery, the Saskatchewan Model of Recovery Services, the Motivational Assessment Process and the policies and procedures established by Addiction Services to provide appropriate counselling services referrals for clients
    Minimum two years in a setting with adults who are in recovery from mental health and/or addictions
    Demonstrated knowledge of best practice in withdrawal management and addictions treatment

This position is located in Montreal lake Cree Nation.
