Description

The Property Management Branch within the ministry is seeking one (1) individual to join our service team as a Journeyperson Carpenter to provide facility maintenance duties at the Prince Albert Provincial Correctional Centre.

Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, a Journeyperson Carpenter will construct, repair, maintain, alter and/or renovate various buildings and structures within the Correctional Centre.
The Ideal Candidate

You will meet the following requirements:

- Possess a valid Journeyperson Carpenter certificate; other Journeyperson trades certificates will be considered;
- Possess a Fireman's Certificate and Refrigeration Operators Certificate and/or a 5th Class Engineer's Certificate or may be considered if candidate can obtain certificate(s) within 12 months of employment;
- Possess a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Drivers License; and
- Experience with other trades work (e.g., plumbing, electrical, etc.) is considered an asset.

To be successful in this role, our ideal candidate will be:

- Flexible, responsible, and adaptable;
- Well organized;
- General building repair and maintenance knowledge;
- Knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools, principles and practices related to building trades; and
- Be able to work in physically demanding conditions and perform physical labour, lifting and climbing.

Typical work hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. This position is required to work evenings and weekends/holidays when on paid standby rotation, with a standby schedule of 24 hours for seven (7) days once every five (5) weeks.
