Description

We are looking for a reliable, proactive dedicated person to assist the MMIWG (Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls) program. This position is responsible for the provision of support, referral, translation, cultural and education services in the field of IRS / MMIWG and requires living a healthy lifestyle and being familiar with Woodland Cree Culture and traditions. About the facility: LLRIBHS promotes health in our communities for the wellbeing of all members. We provide accessible, high quality health services and programs. Together with others, we work to build capacity and educate as we address both acute care needs and the determinants of health.

Duties:
Provide counselling to MMIWG family members that have been impacted by missing persons;
Provide referrals to previously established frontline healing and wellness community works;
Maintain individual records of clients, including services provided, ensuring confidentiality of maintained records;
Support family members to participate in self-help groups, IRS support groups or healing circles;
provide or coordinate transportation requirements with families;
Model self-care plan that reflects a healthy traditional lifestyle (i.e. working with elders, utilizing traditional ways of healing or healthy practices);

Qualifications:
Certificate in Social Work or Diploma in Justice Studies or Human studies field;
Strong verbal, written communication and public relation skills;
Experience working with First Nations communities;
Able to work independently and be self-directed
Proficient computer skills and experience using Microsoft office;  
Ability to work in a dynamic environment, as part of a team with minimal directions;
Ability to speak/understand Cree, and knowledge of Woodland Cree culture is an asset
Must possess a Valid Class 5 Driver's License;
