Description

SUMMARY

The Director of Prevention Services for Sturgeon Lake First Nation is responsible for the management, strategic planning, budgeting, and implementation of programs that support intervention, student wellness, family unity and sobriety.
The goals are to develop programming that assists children, youth, and families to live within their cultural traditions which results in increased strength and resiliency. This role will take a holistic approach to developing effective strategies to meet the emotional, psychological, physical, and social support needs of the community.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Programming

    Participate in the selection, training and evaluation of program employees.
    Work with SLFN agencies to establish a clear understanding of the Nations current services and identify areas of need (gap analysis).  
    Establish a prevention team to support the identified gaps and implement required prevention activities.
    Prevent the duplication of prevention services across agencies.
    Collaborate with internal and external organizations to share information, trends, best practices, and lessons learned
    Manage and approve all prevention budgets.
    Provides leadership in developing and delivering services that promote inclusion, participation, creativity, and empowerment to build a vibrant community where safety and physical, emotional, spiritual, and psychological well-being are supported
    Promotes and interweaves the SLFN culture, traditions, language, vision, mission, and values throughout the development and implementation of programming through interagency collaboration and guidance of Elders and Traditional Knowledge Keepers
