The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety is currently recruiting a permanent full-time Charge Nurse to work at the Pine Grove Correctional Centre. We are seeking compassionate, respectful and empathetic individual, eager to contribute in a positive way to the challenges of working in a female Correctional Centre. You will work with a team of health care professionals to provide oversight of direct female patient nursing care and treatment. To be considered for this position you will be actively registered (eligible for registration) with the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPN), or The College Of Registered Nurses Of Saskatchewan (RN).
You will have knowledge of:
- medical and psychiatric theories and related intervention strategies;
- drug/alcohol withdrawal indicators and effects;
- communicable disease priorities within a correctional population;
- public health issues and risk factors; and
- multi-cultural beliefs, values and perspectives with particular emphasis on First Nations and Metis.
To be considered for this position, you will be actively registered (or eligible for registration) with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) or the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPNAS). You must have a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare provider certification, recognized by your respective licensing body. Supervision experience in performance and resource management, combined with correctional experience, would be considered an asset.
