Are you passionate about developing data systems to support policy and program development? Do you strive to see your analysis feed directly into senior level decision making? Then the Ministry of Agricultures Policy Branch has an opportunity for you.
The successful candidate for the data and research analyst position will help to identify data inefficiencies, opportunities for process automation and improvements, and increase the overall effectiveness of Ministry data systems. At the same time, they will also conduct research and analysis related to current economic issues impacting Saskatchewans agricultural sector. The position requires a high level of proficiency in data analysis, and the successful candidate should have strong skills in the use of Excel, PowerBI, Python and R.
This position supports the work of numerous areas across the Ministry. Your ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues, other branches, counterparts in other governments, stakeholder associations and industry will be vital to success. The role is central to the farm income forecasting process, working with federal partners and provincial partners to develop detailed economic forecasts which feed directly into the provincial budget.
Candidates for this position will need a graduate level university degree in an area related to data analytics or economics, knowledge of economic forecasting, and several years of experience in a related field. Experience and/or knowledge of the agricultural sector in western Canada is required.
