Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time (must be available for Overtime, Weekends, Day, Night, Evening)
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible
Education: Completed at least some secondary school
Experience: 1 year or more dry van experience will be an asset (Not Mandatory).
Credentials: (Certificates, licenses, memberships, courses, etc.), (Class 1 or A), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement
Languages: Functional English is required
Type of Travel: Long-haul, Travel for extended periods.
Type of Equipment: Dry Van
Weight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
Specific Skills:
Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
Loading and unloading of goods
ensuring safety and security of cargo
Plan travel schedules and routes
Receive and relay information to a central dispatcher
Oversee condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, and other equipment
Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness
Skills and Abilities
Security and Safety: Driving Record Check (abstract)
Own Tools/Equipment: Hard Hat, Steel-toed safety boots, Tools
Documentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, Bill of lading, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Accident or incident reports
Essential Skills: Working in a group, Decision making, Finding information, Continuous learning, Oral communication, Writing,
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding
Other Requirements: Routes will include all of Canada and the Mid-West USA. Nights, weekends, and holidays will be required to make timely deliveries to our customers. An excellent driving record is a must.
