Responsibilities and Duties
Develop, improve, and adapt material for speech and debate workshops and tournaments.
Participate in feedback and reporting processes.
The Program Coordinator will work from our Saskatoon office, 310 Wall Street.
The Saskatchewan Elocution and Debate Association envisions a world where youth have the confidence and skills to engage in reasoned discourse on complex and difficult issues. We work to advance the speech arts among Saskatchewan youth by providing and developing speech and debate programs and resources. SEDA hosts competitive tournaments, helps start speech and debate clubs, provided resources to teachers and coaches, and teaches debate and speech skills to students in grades 5-12.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum grade 12 education
Writing skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Digital skills - comfortable with technology
Leadership experience, and team oriented
Reliable and organized
Access to computer/laptop/tablet and reliable internet connection
Speech or debate experience strongly preferred
Experience working with young people strongly preferred
Bilingual English/French strongly preferred
Successful criminal record and vulnerable sector check
This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs, and the successful candidate needs to meet the following eligibility criteria:
Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment,
Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment, and,
Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations.
