The Public Guardian and Trustee (PGT) operates under provincial legislation to protect the financial and legal interests of minors; manage the financial, property and legal interests of adults who are incapable of managing their own affairs; investigate allegations of financial abuse of vulnerable people; and administer the estates of deceased persons.
Reporting to the PGT, the Chief Financial and Operating Officer works with considerable independence and exerts significant influence across the organization by providing strategic direction and advice to the PGT and Management Team on various matters.
The position has overall responsibility for the work of 12 staff and a number of contractors.
This position has a significant risk management role relating to liability and fraud and error prevention and requires a person with the highest professional and ethical standards.

You will be extremely organized and detail oriented; an energetic and positive individual who enjoys a fast-paced environment with interesting and challenging work.
A professional accounting designation with a minimum of ten years relevant experience is required.
We are also looking for the successful candidate to have knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: the preparation of financial statements in accordance with accounting standards; individual and estate/trust taxation; investment strategies and management and/or personal financial planning; and developing budgets and managing forecasts and an understanding of government financial policies and processes. The ideal candidate will have previous corporate administrative experience.
