The Fleet Services Branch within the Ministry of Highways is currently seeking highly motivated Journeyperson Mechanic's to work throughout the province. Under the direction of the Shop Supervisor, you will maintain, repair, and modify all types of trucks, highway construction and maintenance equipment, light vehicles and various types of other equipment used in highway maintenance and construction.
In this position, you will:
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections to all types of trucks, highway construction and maintenance equipment with services performed in the shop and in the field.
- Diagnose equipment problems using mechanical, electrical, and computerized test equipment; determine method of repair and cost/time associated with the repair.
- Repair equipment including mechanical, fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems by replacing, fabricating, or revising parts and components.
- Perform equipment maintenance such as fluid/filter changes; replace brakes, exhaust systems, hydraulic hoses, etc.
- Develop/modify new and existing equipment or systems as assigned.
- Enter and retrieve data on the computer.
- Be required to travel with the possibility of overnight stays.
To qualify for this position, you will possess a valid Journeyperson Certificate recognized by the Province of Saskatchewan in one of the following trades:
- Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic
- Truck and Transport Mechanic
- Agricultural Machinery Technician
Candidates in their 3rd or 4th year apprenticeship in the trades listed above may also be considered.
Successful applicants will either hold a valid Class 3 Driver's license or have the ability to upgrade to one within the probationary period.
