Description

The Regional Services Branch within the Ministry of Agriculture has a dynamic opportunity for a highly motivated leader with excellent communication skills to join their Livestock and Feed Extension Specialist team.

As a Livestock and Feed Extension Specialist, you will work with farmers, ranchers, producer groups and industry to help them grow and improve the livestock industry in Saskatchewan by:

- Developing and delivering in-depth technical expertise in livestock production management.  
- Providing leadership in developing, implementing and promoting livestock extension priorities for the industry (feed and water, profitability, livestock management, etc).
- Identifying, implementing and promoting livestock-related research and demonstrations.
- Collaborating with ministry partners to deliver client service focused on program awareness, public trust, environment, research and technology transfer.  

The ideal candidate will be an experienced agrologist who has in-depth knowledge of livestock management, production, nutrition, financial management, and other topics relevant to livestock production in Saskatchewan, and who is:

- A leader in the delivery of client service.
- An independent worker who also can thrive working alongside a dynamic team of specialists.
- A communicator who is able to strategically interpret and transfer relevant information.
- Organized and able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- A strong leader with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Able to identify, analyze and develop viable options, explanations and solutions to complex agricultural production problems.

Typically, the competencies required for this position would be obtained through a degree in agriculture with a major in animal science, animal bioscience or a relevant degree combined with extensive experience in livestock production.
