EDUCATION & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Proven experience as a Maintenance Worker. Experience in painting, carpentry, plumbing, landscaping and property maintenance. Maintains WHMIS, OH & S, TLR, certifications and other required courses deemed necessary or advantageous to the organization and position. Works with and schedules volunteers. Installation/repair of locks and door closures
Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, appliances and equipment. Ability to follow and complete a daily, weekly, and monthly task schedule.
Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner; Transfer/Lifting/Repositioning policies and practices.
Complies with all rules, industrial regulations, and occupational health and safety standards.
Assist trades people with electrical, plumbing or HVAC repairs. Identify and report the need for major repairs. Maintaining the maintenance area in a safe and tidy fashion. Contribute to the management and efficient operation of Rose Garden Hospice and demonstrate effective time management skills.
Participates in team meetings, training/learning opportunities and quality improvement initiatives as required. Works with the Executive Director to promote a safe, positive work environment for all guests, their families, visitors, staff, and volunteers.
Works with the guest, family members and other multidisciplinary team members to address any maintenance issues that may arise and affect their stay at RGH. Maintains high degree of confidentiality, privacy of personal health care information always in accordance with HIPA legislation. Both in and out of the Rose Garden Hospice setting. Maintains accurate documentation records for repairs and maintenance, incident reports etc. Acts as a resource, role model while on duty. Maybe involved in procedure and policy development. May assist with orientation of inexperienced staff and Volunteers. Maintains confidentiality concerning guests, staff, and organizational information.
