The Water Quality and Habitat Assessment Services unit is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, self-reliant temporary Technical Assistant. This is a field-based position that includes fisheries surveys and habitat inventory. As a Technical Assistant, you will have the opportunity to gain experience in species-at-risk conservation, management-based research and applied ecological monitoring while working on the different research components of the project.
Under the guidance of the Senior Ecologist Aquatic Habitat and Population you will conduct Plain Sucker and Bigmouth Buffalo assessments across Southern Saskatchewan. Duties and responsibilities of this project may include but are not limited to: capturing fish, collecting and recording biological information, habitat assessments, collection of water quality data, operation and maintenance of data collection equipment, landowner contacts, and data recording, input and analysis. Other tasks may include participation in other ongoing fisheries research projects as well.
