Working under the supervision of the Executive Director, the incumbent will develop, implement and facilitate a program for young parents and their children in keeping with the policies and philosophy of Rainbow Youth Centre.
Qualifications:
Certificate or Degree in social sciences field and/or a minimum of four years combined education and related experience and/or life-skills certification.
Experience working with high need, at-risk youth.
Understanding of theory and practice of counseling models.
Strong assessment, organization and time management skills.
Minimum of two years experience facilitating groups and an understanding of group dynamics and development. (required)
Experience/knowledge with program planning, including development, delivery, and evaluation.
An understanding of early childhood development and the development of bonding and attachment relationships.
Knowledge and understanding of the particular needs of young parents up to age 25.
Knowledge of community resources and human services agencies and their programs.
Ability to develop and maintain harmonious relationships with community organizations, referral agencies, and funders.
Experience with supervision (1 year minimum required)
Ability to work as an integral part of a team.
Understanding of crisis management and problem solving.
Good written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to write program reports and with record keeping. (Testing required at time of interview, pass required)
Able to work in a multicultural environment.
Able to work flexible hours. (evening work required once weekly)
Valid driver's license.
