Superior problem solving and troubleshooting skills at the operating system level; exceptional customer service, overall communication, and technical writing skills.
Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining both physical and virtual Windows and Linux servers in enterprise Change Management and Datacenter environments
Proven experience deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting VMware ESX hosts
Strong working knowledge of IIS web server maintenance
Strong working knowledge of AD/Exchange ecosystems including DNS, AD Replication and Sites
Exposure to light MSSQL server administration
VMware, Microsoft, and Linux certifications are a plus
Implement and support disaster recovery solutions
Day travel out of city weekly 2 days
General onsite support for networks: WAN and LAN connectivity, Internet Access, firewalls, cabling, and switching
Remote access solution implementation and support: VPN, Terminal Services, and Citrix
System documentation to include system reviews and recommendations
Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages
Specific Skills
- Collect and document user's requirements and develop logical and physical specifications
- Develop data, process and network models to optimize architecture and to evaluate the performance and reliability of designs
- Assess, troubleshoot, document, upgrade and develop maintenance procedures for operating systems, communications environments and applications software
- Lead and co-ordinate teams of information systems professionals in the development of software and integrated information systems, process control software and other embedded software control systems
