Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Branch Manager of the Moose Jaw Branch, or designate, the caseworker will provide services to homeless participants in need of housing support, case management and service delivery under the My Place Program.
Hrs of work: Non-traditional work hours
Duties:
Provide housing support to address homelessness and engage in advocacy to reduce barriers
Implements risk reduction case plans
Assist clients in accessing services
Make referrals to other professionals or agencies
Promote positive independent problem solving and decision making skills
Provide life skills support to clients
Teach self-advocacy to clients
Provide stabilization crisis support
Provide incidental problem solving and emotional support to clients
Working in partnership with local agencies and partners
Answering the support phone line
Providing support for newly released incarcerated adults
Liaison with the Federal and Provincial correctional facilities
Role model positive behavior and encourage, and assist clients to practice self-help and non-violent problem solving skills daily
Ability to provide effective and accurate written documentation
Ensure the services provided are risk reductive, individual, integrated, and client orientated
Provide emergency, incidental behavior management (non-violent crisis intervention)
Provide non emergent and choice based behavioral management to involved clients
Maintain confidentiality
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in the Human Services sector
Minimum one year work experience with individuals involved in the justice system and struggling with homelessness
Compliance with the designated National Risk Management Policies of the National John Howard Society
Tipi Teachings, Medicine Wheel Teachings or other First Nations Cultural training
A valid drivers license/reliable vehicle
Clean Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector check
