Based in one of the four (4) campus locations, The Manager IT Security reports to the Director Strategic Architecture & Security and ensures the infrastructure well-being of the IT organization. As a member of the Information Technology Services (ITS) management team, this position plays a key role in administrative leadership and strategic planning across the institution. A total of 5 positions comprising of full-time staff report directly and indirectly to the Manager IT Security.
The Manager IT Security performs two core functions for the enterprise. The first is overseeing the operations of the enterprises security solutions through management of the organizations security analysts. The second is establishing an enterprise security stance through policy, architecture, and training processes. Secondary tasks will include the selection of appropriate security solutions, and oversight of any vulnerability audits and assessments. The Manager IT Security interfaces with peers within ITS as well as with the leaders of the business units to share the institutional security vision and to solicit involvement in achieving higher levels of enterprise security through information sharing and co-operation. This position is closely linked with Strategic Architecture to ensure a Secure by Design philosophy. The Manager IT Security also facilitates the planning and implementation of enterprise IT systems, business operations, and facility defenses against security breaches and vulnerability issues. This individual is also responsible for auditing existing systems, while developing for recommendation the administration of security policies, activities, and standards.
Travel is required between all Sask Polytech locations for administrative responsibilities, as well as travel provincially, nationally, and occasionally internationally to represent ITS and Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
