Join a team of outstanding Software Developers building software systems that exceed customer expectations and that keep companies coming back for new systems and upgrades!

Software development teams at Calian SED build complex, distributed software systems for leading satellite communication companies. The successful applicant will be joining one of our project teams in developing software systems in one of the following areas:

-Monitoring, encoding, bundling and distributing content that is streamed to customer radios
-Managing key resources in a satellite network
-Allowing satellite operators to plan for and optimize usage of key satellite resources

At SED, developers starting their careers will learn the following key development skills:

-Writing clean code with unit tests
-Working in a large code base (usually in Java, possibly in JavaScript or C++)
-Writing code that communicates with other systems as part of a distributed system
-Developing high availability systems
-Working effectively in a large team

Key Technologies:

-Browser: JavaScript, React, Redux
-Application Server: Java, Some C++
-Automated Tests: Python
-Linux

Requirements:

-A Computer Science degree, Computer Engineering or a three-year Computer Science degree combined with an Electrical Engineering/Engineering Physics degree
-Proficiency in Java, JavaScript, Python or C++

The ability to meet the requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program is mandatory. All employees will be required to apply for a Government Security Clearance.
