Tasks and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Art Educator will support the Gallery Educator to create art learning opportunities for people of all ages, and educational material using resources from the Mann Art Gallerys Permanent Collection, exhibitions, and local artists. The Assistant Educator will create educational packages related to the gallery's current and future programming and the Permanent Collection, design and facilitate online and (as pandemic safety allows) in-person workshops & classes, virtual summer art camps with art kits, outreach programs, and assisting with an outdoor Metis art project. Projects will be designed for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities, but especially for families with school-aged children.
This is a summer student job position.
Applicants must:
be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada; Note: Non-Canadian students or graduates holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent status are not eligible.
be legally entitled to work in Canada;
be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment;
have completed the school year at the start of employment;
be registered in the YCW online candidate inventory;
be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment (minimum 30 hours a week); and not have another full-time job while employed in a YCW job.
have registered as a full-time student in the semester preceding the YCW job (as defined by their educational institution); and
intend to return to full-time studies in the semester immediately following the YCW summer job.
