The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure, Occupational Health and Safety Division, is seeking an innovative, responsible, and motivated senior Training and Safety Specialist headquartered in Saskatoon. You will work with the Occupational Health and Safety branch to achieve Ministry goals in addition to the overall goal of Mission Zero. Reporting to the Training and Safety Manager, you will bring strong public relations and interpersonal skills.
Core responsibilities include:
Delivering scheduled training for equipment operators and other Ministry personnel;
Monitoring training and safety program performance;
Monitoring individual training and safety performance and competency;
Advising training and safety program development and improvement;
Implementing safety related programs, policy, and standards;
Incident investigations; safety audits; and
Being a resource for training- and safety-related questions and concerns.

Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be acquired through experience as a safety professional, equipment operator, journeyperson, or similar experience. The successful candidate would be required to obtain instructor status for numerous courses/training offered by the Ministry within the probationary period.
To qualify for this position, you will possess the following:
Recognized safety certification; and
Adult Education certification; and
Class 1 or 3 drivers licence; and
Certification in a number of Power Mobile Equipment units; and
Experience in all Ministry operations including snowplow and wing; or
Transportation industry experience and knowledge.
