Description

The Society for the Involvement of Good Neighbors (SIGN) is seeking a Housing Outreach Support Worker to support individual client needs. The Housing Outreach Support Worker will work collaboratively with the Housing Locator Program Manager & other community partners as well as participate in engagement & education throughout the community.
Education & Experience:
Combination of work experience & education that is acceptable to the Board of Directors
Experience working with marginalized populations in community-related field
Assets & Abilities
Initiate case management
Maintain appropriate data collection & reporting tools
Develop & facilitate trainings & workshops
Maintain collaborative relationships with clients & housing providers
Work to eliminate barriers clients may be experiencing in relation to safe, affordable housing
Proactively seek new housing opportunities & resources to assist clients with housing
Negotiate leases
Assist clients with obtaining assistance money, & process referrals to various housing programs
Assist clients during their move into permanent housing
Provide crisis support for clients
Disseminate relative housing information to clients & appropriate staff members in a timely fashion
Ability to deal pleasantly & effectively with a wide range of people of different ages & cultures, in potentially volatile & emotionally charged situations
Knowledge of the Saskatchewan Residential Tenancies Act & SK Housing policy
Knowledge of community resources
Understanding of mental health, addictions, crisis management & counselling
