Description

Employment as a Medical Office Assistant (MOA), is primarily to function as a physicians secretary. This involves greeting patients at reception, booking/scheduling future appointments, answering and making phone calls and faxes throughout the day on behalf of the doctor. Assistance is required during sensitive clinic procedures (such as PAP exams) and for patient exams (collection of height and weight, pregnancy testing, etc). Inventory management and assistance with billing/invoicing is
also regularly done.

A good MOA acts as an office manager. This requires strong social skills when dealing with the public, excellent computer skills for schedule management, office organization skills, and teamwork/communication with the physician. The more efficient an MOA is, the more efficient the physician is.

Previous training and experience is desired but not necessary. On the job training will be used to fill in any gaps in knowledge/skills.
