The Saskatchewan Research Councils Mining and Minerals Division has an immediate opening for a Research Technologist at the Pipe Flow Technology CentreTM.
Accountabilities
Operate pipe test loop and pilot process equipment for a variety of research projects
Assist in method development or modifying procedures to meet project needs
Record results using computer software
Perform basic service and maintenance of the research equipment, instrumentation and laboratory, troubleshooting problems as required
Maintain a clean and safe working area
Participate in hazard assessments and the development of safe operating procedures
Perform maintenance of pilot plant facilities and equipment for pilot plant areas
Qualifications
A diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Chemical Technology, or equivalent certification
Between two and eight years of industry experience
Experience in general repair and maintenance of equipment and instrumentation
Valid drivers licence
Skills
Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting skills and the ability to multitask
Hands-on experience operating, maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment such as pumps, motors, flow systems, instruments and sensors
Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, Word, and experience in using data acquisition systems
Understanding of laboratory and/or industrial safety practices and operation of chemical process equipment
Strong motivation with a willingness to learn and take on new tasks
Effective interpersonal and communication skills working in a collaborative environment
Experience operating industrial processing and/or chemical systems is an asset
The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
