Reporting to the CEO, the successful candidate will be accountable for the following functions:
Serve as a key member of the PDS Leadership Team, participating in decisions pertaining to all strategic and business initiatives.
Oversee development and delivery of the financial and risk management strategies focusing on risk mitigation, the development of short, mid-term and long term budgets and forecasts and setting up tools, systems for financial and operational reporting, and metrics to support actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
Provide oversight and leadership to all financial functions within the organization including AR/AP, cash management, asset and inventory management, grants, audit, restricted fund management, payroll and benefits and applicable control systems.
Provide leadership, strategic guidance and oversight to the development and execution of PDS IT strategy including assurance of adequate resources and effective planning to deliver desired outcomes. Key areas of importance currently include, but are not limited to,
the operation of PDS accounting software, the further optimization of the laboratory information management system (LIMS), upgrading and integration hardware and software systems, building upon the constructive relationship with Western College of Veterinary Medicine and University of Saskatchewan IT services, and upgrading of PDS website and enhancing the on-line interface with its customers.
The successful candidate will be a professionally designated accountant with a minimum of 10 years of business experience. Experience in senior financial roles and in managing organizational change is a must, as is extensive knowledge of working with databases and computer software. Not-for-profit experience is preferred.
