APPLICATION PROGRAMMER

The City of Prince Albert is currently accepting applications for the permanent position of Application Programmer to work with our Information Technology group.

The Application Programmers role is to assist in the definition, development, testing, analysis, and maintenance of new or existing software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements.  This includes writing, coding, testing, and analyzing software programs and applications.

Desired Qualifications include:
- Experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products.
-Working knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Microsoft Windows and Office products.
- Practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts.
- Experience with core software applications, including Financials, Payroll, Work Order, Document Management and SharePoint.  Experience in Microsoft Dynamics GP Financial ERP and Documentum would be an asset.
- Experience in the operation and analysis of database hardware, software, and standards, as well as data retrieval methodologies and software applications.
- Proficiency in a variety of programming languages and software tools , including.NET, Visual Studio, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- Understanding of coding methods and best practices.
- Relational database and operating systems experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Possess excellent organization, communication, documentation skills, and analytical and problem solving skills.

Educational Requirements:
- College diploma (Minimum 2 year program) or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or software engineering.
- MCSD (Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer) certification an asset but not required.
