Westmoreland Coal Company, Canada currently has a position available for a temporary, full-time Safety Administrative Assistant at the Estevan Mine. Reporting to the Safety Manager, this position is responsible for administrative tasks within the Safety department.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include a wide range of activities including, but not limited to:
- Maintain safety/training database
- Maintain safety/training records on a day to day basis
- Support the department and site with the safety management system
- Take minutes at monthly OHS meeting
- Creating requisitions for purchasing within the department
- Assist with preparing, administering and filing of training material
- Monthend reporting
- Managing the safety/training schedule
- Scanning/Filing of documents
Assuming other responsibilities as required in response to changing circumstances and the economic and physical environment of the Mine or Company.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a business administration certificate or diploma combined with at least two years of experience. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Be able to work effectively with minimal supervision and be self-motivated.
- Demonstrate advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook. Experience with Microsoft Access would be an asset.
- Effective interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
- Background in occupational safety is preferred, but not required.
