Description

Reporting directly to the Director of Education and School Principal. The Mental Health Worker is responsible for carrying out the duties as outlined herein.

DUTIES

1.    Adhere to the Personnel Policy as set out by the Chief and Council;
2.    Maintain strict confidentiality at all times;
3.    Must understand, support and participate in the community enhancement initiatives in working towards the vision of Yellow Quill First Nation which improves the quality of life;
4.    Provide services and deliver programs in relation to the children and youth and their families to establish and maintain positive mental health;
5.    Develop cooperative, professional and productive working relationships with the community service providers, supervisors, Chief and Council.
6.    Work as an integrated team member with other service providers from the school, health clinic, child and family services, justice, Elders, youth and recreation services as well as services outside the community;
7.    Ensure opportunities exist for one-to-one support or counseling sessions;
8.    Organize and facilitate healing circles for youth and their families as may be appropriate;
9.    Stay current with contemporary approaches to counseling;
10.    Provide a mix of traditional and contemporary approaches in a balance that meets the needs as requested;
11.    Attend Living Well Facilitator meetings;
12.    Participate in community staff and program meetings as appropriate;
13.    Engage in professional development opportunities;
14.    Develop and maintain client files and annual summaries;
15.    Participate in an annual file audit;
16.    Other duties as assigned by the Director of Education within the scope of duties.
