The Psychiatrist will provide clinical, in-patient and emergency general psychiatry services in a team oriented setting with opportunity to work in broad areas of psychiatry ranging from children and adolescents to a senior population. The region offers integrated mental health and addiction services, including a transitional house in Estevan for addiction and day hospital in Weyburn. The incumbent will be part of the multidisciplinary team that includes mental health therapists, nurses (in-patient and community), social workers, psychologists and addiction counselors. He/she will provide leadership for the team in a collegial approach and work with external bodies as required. The psychiatrist will provide emergency coverage on a rotational basis (1 in 3) and travel to satellite clinics to provide services at least once a week. 30 hours per week. Remuneration is as per the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health Medical Services Branch Non-Fee-For-Service Compensation Grid for Psychiatrists (sessional rates).
The Weyburn Mental Health Centre has a 10-bed in-patient unit. Extensive community services made up of Child and Youth, Adult and Addiction Services, long-term rehabilitation programs; residential and Apartment supportive living programs, group and transitional homes in Weyburn for rehabilitation.
Candidates must have:
-Certification (or be eligible for) with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
-Licensure (or be eligible for) with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS).
-Demonstrable evidence in multidisciplinary approach of care/management.
-Experience providing Generalist Psychiatry services within a catchment model preferred.
-Understanding of Saskatchewan provincial laws and regulations of commitment and release of the mentally ill under the Mental Health Services Act an asset.
