Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities/Competencies
Must utilize safe work practices and promote safety policies to others. Must maintain a clean and safe work area.
Proficient in safe methods of hoisting, rigging, and scaffold erection.
Proficient in material take offs.
Must read and understand construction drawings and be able to accurately build to drawings and specifications.
Responsible for safe and conscientious use of equipment including forklift, skidsteer loader, scissor lifts, and power tools.
Supervise labourers and resources as required for a specific task.
Must accurately and effectively use survey instruments and techniques.
Own and maintain hand tools as normally required in trade.
Qualifications
Pleasant demeanour, with an ability to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks while working within a team environment.
Appropriate level of carpentry experience.
Enrolled in Apprenticeship program. Journeyman status is an asset.
Valid drivers license is required and first aid certificate is preferred.
Knowledge of winter construction techniques and ability to work in cold weather.
Knowledge of all aspects of concrete formwork and falsework, reinforcing, placing, and finishing. Good understanding of concrete and its properties.
Thorough understanding of wood frame and steel stud construction, metal siding, and structural steel elements.
