Golden West Radio currently has an opening in our evolving news department. We are a radio newsroom with increasing focus on a popular web portal. Our goal is to provide local coverage in multiple formats as we are a destination for those seeking breaking news as it happens on the air and more comprehensive local coverage online.

The application process is open to anyone who has a passion for the industry and is open to learning. An ideal candidate would have a keen interest in news, close attention to detail, strong communication skills, the ability to put words and thoughts to writing, and a positive attitude.

RESPONSIBILITIES

-Write, line-up and deliver newscasts with personality and credibility
-Generate and produce engaging local radio and online news stories
-Conduct interviews on the phone and in person
-Cover events and meetings
-Occasionally report live from the scene of an ongoing story
-Occasionally cover live sporting events
-Take pictures in the field for use online
-Appear at community events on behalf of the radio station
-Be available to cover other shifts as needed
