Animal Protection Services of Saskatchewan (APSS) is seeking a skilled Executive Director to lead and oversee the organization and its operations as it enforces the Animal Protection Act throughout much of Saskatchewan.
APSS is a non-profit organization that investigates animal cruelty complaints for all animal species. It is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, and its mission is to ensure the humane treatment of animals through education and enforcement of animal welfare laws and regulations in Saskatchewan.
The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors, and supervises the day to day operations of the organization, while also acting as the organization's key spokesperson and contact with the public, the government, and other stakeholders.
Duties will include supervision of employees and investigations, reporting to the Board and Government, communication with subjects of complaint, complainants, media and various other stakeholders, budgeting and fiscal management, and strategic planning.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of animal welfare enforcement, first hand experience with animal husbandry and knowledge of Western Canadian agriculture, experience with non-profit organization management and supervision of employees, and exceptional communication skills including comfort with media interviews and public presentations. Preference may be given to applicants with formal education in areas such as Commerce or Ag Business, but other combinations of education, skills and experience will be considered.
This will be a permanent full-time position, based out of Saskatoon, SK. Compensation will be commensurate with skills and experience.
