Description

OVERVIEW
Seaboard Special Crops, a leading pulse crop processor, is currently seeking applications to fill a full-time position as Commodity Buyer.  

DUTIES
Reporting directly to the facility manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for developing and maintaining good relationships with the current producer base; meanwhile, attracting and retaining new customers.  Duties include providing agronomic and market information to producers while purchasing any commodities held by SSC as required for the shipping program.  The Commodity Buyer will be responsible for maintaining databases tracking production, available product, and grower price indications.  Working closely with other departments the Buyer will also assist in coordinating delivery of product, tracking the quality of incoming and inhouse product and current inventory position as well as other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Ability to grade grain based on CGC standards.
Strong analytical and reasoning abilities.
Well organized, with a strong work ethic and strict attention to detail.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work effectively independently and as a team member.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Customer service oriented and career driven.
University graduate from agricultural program preferred.
Minimum 3 years experience in agricultural agronomy, crop procurement, or sales.

Salary will be determined based on qualifications, skills and experience.  A comprehensive benefit and pension plan package is offered.
