This is a part-time casual position that provides library services directly to the public and performs a variety of tasks to support that activity. The emphasis of this position is on serving the public in person, on the telephone or via other electronic means. This position operates a wide range of office and computer equipment including devices found in automated library environments, and assists the public in the use of this equipment. They also assist in the delivery of library programs. They interact with the public, make independent judgments and display initiative. They are expected to refer unusual or difficult problems to their supervisor or designate.
