THE POSITION
As a member of the Kinistin Clinic, the successful candidate will provide comprehensive holistic community health/home care nursing and programming. The Community Health/ Home Care Nurse will report directly to the Health Program Manager and will receive clinical supervision/support from the Saskatoon Tribal Council. Travel both in and out of the community will be required.
DUTIES
Provide safe competent nursing care, which meets existing standards for community health;
Develop and maintain close working relationship with clients, Health Programs Manager, health staff, First Nation leadership, community members and the Tribal Council.
Plan, design and implement community health/home care programs and educational opportunities as directed by community needs;
Provide community health/home care programstatistical reports as required, and
Provide training and supervision to auxiliary health staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Baccalaureate in Nursing, eligible for registration in Saskatchewan or RN with Community Health Nursing experience and/or certification in community health nursing will be considered
A valid driver's license and dependable transportation are required;
CPR-C/AED& First Aid certification required;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written);
Ability to work effectively within holistic team approach;
Case management and client assessment skills;
Strong commitment to health prevention, health promotion and community development and
Ability to speak Saulteaux and previous experience with a First Nation Community an asset.
